DESCHUTES RIVER ADVENTURES
Starting with just a few rafts in 1981
Deschutes River Adventures began by renting boats for day trips on the whitewater stretches of the Lower Deschutes River in Maupin, Oregon. At a time when whitewater rafting was still a new and growing sport, DRA was one of the pioneering outfitters helping introduce people to the excitement of river running in Central Oregon.
As interest in rafting grew, so did the company. DRA expanded its fleet and began offering multi-day rentals, giving adventurers the chance to raft and camp along more than 100 miles of the Wild and Scenic Deschutes River. Guided trips followed soon after, and DRA quickly earned a reputation for expertly run day and overnight rafting adventures, all while staying true to its roots in raft rentals.
In 2017, Kate and Andy
purchased DRA and have continued building it into the full-service outdoor adventure operation and retail space it is today. With a highly trained team of professional river guides, the company now offers exceptional guided experiences alongside its longstanding rental program. In 2019, they added the on-site coffee kiosk, where guests can grab baked goods, breakfast burritos, and locally roasted espresso before heading out on the river.
