trip summary
- During the 5-day Owyhee raft trip we’ll explore 60 miles of the lower canyon at a relaxing pace, passing through the deepest and most scenic section of the Owyhee River canyon. Class II & III rapids like “Bullseye,” “Nuisance” & “Montgomery” thrill us with a bit of whitewater each day.

Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to go?
The Owyhee River flow is dependent on snowpack and snowmelt. Due to this, we can only run the Owyhee River in the spring, April – June. If you book a trip and the water levels don’t cooperate, we will try to move the trip to a different Oregon river. Or, we will convert your deposit to a credit and try again for next season.
What kind of experience do I need for a 5 day Owyhee trip?
The lower Owyhee River is known for its total remoteness, sandy beaches, starry skies, and class III rapids. Occasionally during high water flows some rapids can turn to class IV. The stretch is considered beginner/intermediate friendly. Our Guides provide raft navigation and safety.
What gear is provided and what do I need to bring?
We provide rafts, safety gear, drybags, meals, and individual camping equipment (tent, cot, paco pad, chair) If you prefer to use your own camping gear, you certainly can. You need to bring your own clothing layers, water bottle, toiletries, sleeping bag, pillow and alcohol if you’d like.
I have a small group and I don’t meet the 6 person trip minimum, can I still go?
Yes! Our trip dates for the Owyhee are set a year in advance. If you are a group of 1 to 5 people, sign up for your trip date and then our office will work to fill the trip with other small groups. If on the rare occasion we don’t get any interest in your same dates, we will cancel the trip and refund your deposit. If you want to be able to go for certain, then you’re welcome to pay for 6 spots. We can have up to 16 guests on our Owyhee trips.
What's the Owhyee River all about?
It’s one of the most talked-about waterways in the Western US. Even OPB’s Oregon Field Guide has done a story on it.
Who takes care of the meals on Owyhee River trips?
We’ll provide all meals from lunch on your first day to lunch on your last day. We offer a delicious spread of in-season meals that include fresh fruits, vegetables and grilled to perfection meats. Expect to see breakfasts such as blueberry pancakes, sausage scrambles, breakfast burritos and thick-cut bacon. Lunches include build-your-own sandwiches and wraps. Dinner offerings can be grilled steaks, tri-tip, tacos, cedar plank salmon, chicken and veggie kebabs, with salads and appetizers. We finish every night off with dessert. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol for camp, although we do not allow alcohol while on the rafts. We try to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions.
