About Owyhee River
The Owyhee River is one of the hidden gems of eastern Oregon. Tucked away in the southeast corner of the state, this is one of the most remote areas in the lower 48. During this 5-day trip through the “Grand Canyon of Oregon”, you’ll float 60 miles of class II and III water, hike to 9,000-year old petroglyphs and archaeological sites, soak in natural hot springs and experience some of Oregon’s beauty that many will never see in their lifetime. We’ll supply excellent guides, quality camp gear, and delicious meals. This is a trip of a lifetime, and we’re honored to share it with you. Call us - There are a lot of details and logistics that go into a 5-day whitewater rafting trip, we’re happy to answer questions over the phone about any of our trips.

Owyhee trips have a 6 person minimum. We do combine groups. All trips are dependent on water levels. The Owyhee River can be a bit unpredictable because its levels depend on snowpack and snowmelt, timed perfectly. We need at least 800 CFS to run trips. We’ll refund or roll over your deposit if there is not enough water at the time of your launch date.
The trip meets at 8:30 am in Rome, Oregon the morning of the launch date. You’re encouraged to camp the night before the trip at the put-in or stay in a cabin at Rome Station. On the last day, we take out around noon at Leslie Gulch boat ramp, where your car is shuttled.
trip summary
During the 5-day Owyhee raft trip we’ll explore 60 miles of the lower canyon at a relaxing pace, passing through the deepest and most scenic section of the Owyhee River canyon. Class II & III rapids like “Bullseye,” “Nuisance” & “Montgomery” thrill us with a bit of whitewater each day.
On this trip there are plenty of short hikes, opportunities to soak in natural hot springs, visits to historic sites and even some good fishing holes. You’re also welcome to move from raft to raft, relaxing in the oar raft, joining a crew in a paddle raft or getting extra adventurous in an inflatable kayak.
